On the personal side:
Mel joined Rowling & Associates after an extensive career in accounting in the construction and development industry both in Los Angeles and San Diego. A native of Western Pennsylvania, Mel has a lifelong allegiance to the Pittsburgh Steelers and is a major sports fan of the NFL, baseball, basketball and a regular participant in golf. His other major interest is rock n roll music, and he attends local concerts regularly.
Things you may not know about Mel:
He has three adult daughters who are a musical theater actress, a creative writer in poetry, and a zookeeper respectively. Mel’s influence in those pursuits was minimal.
Mel joined the team in March 2012, bringing over 35 years of accounting experience to the firm. Mel’s primary responsibilities include accounting, financial reporting and cash flow management for Rowling & Associates. Mel also assists in tax preparation and various administrative projects for our clients.
Prior to joining R&A, Mel held accounting and controller positions in the materials, real estate, and property management industries, including Acting Controller for WMK Office San Diego LLC and almost ten years as Controller for the Building Industry Association of San Diego. Mel holds a B.A. in Economics and Accounting from Washington & Jefferson College in Washington, PA. After spending two years serving as a First Lieutenant for the US Army Finance Corp at the US Munitions Command, Mel went on to earn an MBA in Sports Administration from Ohio University in Athens, OH.
